4 Generations

100 YEARS OF TRADITION AND NO SIGN OF FATIGUE

The history of the gastro- and hotelier family Scheuble, now spanning 100+ years, began all the way back in 1915. At the time, the master baker Ludwig Scheuble Snr took over a bakery at Winterthurerstrasse 63 in the Oberstrass district of Zurich. His eldest son Ludwig Scheuble Jnr, likewise a trained baker and confectioner, acquired a variety of restaurants in the city of Zurich during the second half of the 1930s.
The Restaurant Zähringer Quick, located in the building that now houses the Hotel Scheuble, was added to the portfolio during the mid-50s. Ludwig Scheuble Jnr redesigned the premises and established the legendary “Africana” jazz club with his tenant. In 1968, Ludwig Jnr purchased the entire property and turned it into the Hotel Scheuble. After his death in June 1978, his son Beat Scheuble took over the management of the company and has continued to carry out the duties of this position until today.
Beat Scheuble is also conducting the current refurbishment of the rooms and hallways. 32 of the 54 rooms have been re-designed as of the start of 2017. And no stone has been left unturned in the process: the new rooms are spacious, flooded with light and furnished with high-quality materials. You will feel at home here.
Sons Marco and Sandro, both Master’s students in Economics, mark the fourth generation of the Scheuble family working at the hotel and continuing the tradition.
We look forward to seeing you.
